Default AEM EMS and VTEC oil pressure sensor

Just curious if the EMS even uses the VTEC oil pressure sensor or if it uses some other means of controlling VTEC? I'm curious because the sensor/plug sits right between my LoveFab GT-1 manifold and DP and gets very hot.

Or maybe the actual oil pressure sensor can be relocated somewhere cooler and just use a braided line up to the VTEC solenoid?

I took out both. I was told the EMS doesn't use either.

Hmmmmm........No problems with VTEC engagement then?

The ems is suppose to be controlling the VTEC instead of the solenoid.

Ok.........So, you took out both the engine oil pressure sensor and the VTEC oil pressure sensor that is sticking out the side of the VTEC solenoid and everything is working just fine?

I wasn't sure if the EMS would need that sensor to read oil pressure and open VTEC.

The reason why I want to remove it if I can is because the LoveFab GT-1 manifold goes right under it and the DP over it and it gets super hot and is melting the wires.

Yeah I have the same kit as you. I have not ran it into VTEC yet because my car isn't tuned but I looked into it. When I drove my car to get tuned the VTEC oil pressure sensor started melting onto the manifold because of its position. I had to make small little heat sheilds that went around it to keep it from totally melting. I remember reading somewhere that we didn't need that sensor sense the EMS would be controlling it. I think kane from automotive speed also confirmed it with me.

Are you still having heat issues with the heat coating? I sent mine out this week and it should be done by next week.

Yeah, actually the Jet Hot made the manifold hold in more heat (kind of like a furnace brick) which made the wires melt easier. I caught it before it did anything bad and now have it rapped with some DEI heat wrap. It's working but I would rather not have it there at all if it doesn't need to be. I even thought about putting a braided line on the solenoid and moving the sensor somewhere else.

I'm also working on fabbing up a shield that goes around the sensor.

So on top of the jet hot coating you have your manifold wrapped? I thought the coating was suppose to help cut down the heat? Dam, I should've wrapped it instead of it getting coated then. You think?

The heat shielding I made didn't take to long. I made one for the solenoid and it works pretty good. Don't worry about the sensor. Just take it out and plug the hole. If anything make a shield for the solenoid. I'll take pics of it tonight and show. Nothing spectacular though.
