AEM temp calibration ( coolant temp fix )

... I just want my modifry ECT to be accurate, it freaks me out when it shows 215 sometimes. I know its not really running hot, but it still makes me do a double take. haha
If the modifry ECT is saying 220 (6 bars), then it could be that it is- unless you recalibrated it on your computer. I have the Modifry mod also and I'm always at 4 bars and sometimes 5 bars after slowing down after a few hot runs.

EDIT: When I first drained and refilled the coolant, it was difficult to purge the ALL the air out. I was running hot on the hwy, sometimes up to 6 bars for a few seconds with the heater blasting...

I don't' think the modifry works off the #'s of the EMS. it's using it's own calibration in the unit itself and the OEM sensor.

[QUOTE=AndyFloyd,Apr 29 2009, 10:59 PM]i do have a modrifry ECT. Can anyone confirm this? If so I am usually at 3-4 bars. I have never seen the 5th but on the dyno we were seeing 217 from the ECU. Maybe that was a false reading...not sure.

I was reading a little further into it to rid of my doubts...
It takes the voltage straight from the sensor that is going into (before) the EMS and converts the voltage into bars on our dash.
Another thing is that when I went to get tuned, I asked Bisi to input the correct coolant and intake temperature calibrations so my EMS will be more accurate (for serial gauge, etc) <-- It didn't effect the (modifry'd) dash bars at all. Actually confirmed it.
EDIT: You're okay. I was also reading up to the occasional 215-220 on the laptop before the recalibration.

thanks for the detective work. Well this is kinda good and bad, good because my temp is correct bad because my temp is correct. LOL. I need a fan switch because its almost always at 4 bars and 3 when crusing. I would like it to stay at 3 bars all the time. Not that 205* is hot i just want my baby to run cooler. How many bars do you see now that you got all the air out of your coolant system?
The system is designed to stay in that heat range, if you want to change it then you need to change the design. The most important part is probably the t-stat since it's not full open ~200. Many people have commented that it would be nice to have a T-stat that opened 4-6 degrees sooner instead of 15-20 like the one's available do.

ECT reads off stock sensor, your AEM EMS cal table is just off -- no way was your car at 217F

yea when the car showed 217* the ECT was showing 3-4 bars I think. Which is 190-205 so i guess thats right. What do you see as far as temps? I have an autometer water temp gauge, thinking about hooking it up now just to have another gauge to look at, keep stuff monitored. Where did you tap for your gauge?
Usually fluctuates from 190-205

Interesting, I have read that the stock thermostat opens fully around 200*. I ordered a new thermostat from a place online. Its an OEM style that opens at 172*F. It has 76*C engraved on the top of it. Im not sure if its just gonna crack open @ 172 and fully open at like 192* or open quickly @ 172 and regulate temps a little lower. What temp range is the stock thermostat? Anyone ever tested one in some boiling water to see where and when they open? Keep the info coming.
