I'm not 100% sure and just wanted to double check if the gauge will display boost without the boost solenoid (ie used as a boost display gauge)? I'm assuming that it should just work like a normal mechanical boost gauge without the boost control function if it is hooked up with a power source and the vac/boost signal. Am I correct?

 

No. It will throw an error. You may be able to put a resistor across the solenoid wires, but I don't know for sure.

 

Why would you want to run it only as a boost gauge? There are plenty of other solutions for that and as a boost controller it is pretty good.

 

I have decided to use the solenoid and ems to control the boost and as a result the gauge is now redundant so I'm selling it alone without the solenoid. I already have a mechanical boost gauge to display my boost. A potential buyer is asking me this question so thats why I'm asking..

 

AEM states that its a fully standalone gauge and as such it can be used without the need of the AEM ems. Also as it comes with an onboard pressure sensor, I thought maybe is should read the vac/boost signal when its plumbed in?

 

Mine works fine without the solenoid but I only read vacuum and not boost cause im NA right now.

I do see .5 to .6 pounds of boost in VTEC though. LOL

 

Weird. Mine just displays "S0L" and that's it.

 

the soliniod can be found for about $35 if you know where. it is the same as aem uses they just put there name on it.
