AEM Water/Methanol Injection
[QUOTE=camuman,Aug 20 2008, 11:00 AM] this is in no way to knock your numbers, pretty ridiculous, but curious, why did you have to run so much boost, and meth just to get 550 on a built block?

Any details on the setup? When are you staring the meth injection and when are you injecting full psi? Are you controlling the meth injection with the AEM or just through the electronics provided in the kit? I am very interested in going this route, but I am looking for help in the setup specifics. Thanks in advance.
The safety output from the controller is being fed into the AEM EMS. If anything happened to the water/meth system, the EMS would be signalled to immediately drop boost (using AEM's boost control software features) and retard the ignition timing.

There is a link to the documentation.
You set a starting and ending boost number on the controller module. In my setup the spray starts at 11psi and is all in at 23. I am also running the largest jet that came with the kit -- 400-650 whp.
The only connection made (at least in my setup) to the EMS is the "Boost Safe" connection that goes to an available input.
If anything happens like a short, pump failure, empty tank, etc. boost and timing get pulled automatically and the error light in the cockpit lights up. The kit is really flexible so you have a lot of different ways to set it up.
Hope that helps.
Oh yeah and you need to have a bung welded into your charge pipe for the water/meth injector, preferably as far from the throttle body as you can get it. On my InlinePRO kit, I was able to get it well away from the throttle body (see pic above).
I got the bung from Jeg's and it was about 5 bucks. My fabricator welded it in for $20.00.

I ask because in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=313786&st=0
I read things like:
Old build - 512 WHP/319 ft-lbs at 17.5 psi on 93 octane
New build - 585 WHP/358 ft-lbs at 18 psi on 92 octane
5 inch pulley 360 RWHP at 7 lbs boost
3.8 inch pulley 453 RWHP 265 ftlbs Torque at 13.8 lbs boost
448hp 272tq 13.8psi @8200 dynapack
gt35R
AEM EMS
Full-Race Manifold
Stock Block

this one made 513 on 16#.
I really think the only reason why you need so much more boost is you have a log manifold. Swap to a full race and BADABING! Mo powa. in anyevent, sick numbers! damn near 3 times what i have at the wheels

Thanks for the specs.
I'm looking @ doing the same on a stock block/pistons.
Where did you get the meth setup & price?
Thanks.

AEM's part # is 30-3000.
sorry, I had seen you post and had not answered my question. I appreciate the help as I will be purchasing this kit very shortly. When tuning with the water/meth injection do you have to change your target air/fuel ratio?

And the InlinePRO manifold is not like an old Ultimate Racing log mani. It is pretty efficient and John Lee tells me it's good to 1000whp. And unlike all the tubular manifolds out there, I don't worry about mine cracking.
Besides, all I know is that the car is fun to drive.
