Default Aeromotive 340 fuel pump dropping pressure

Went to get my car tuned today had to stop because my fuel pressure is dropping off up top, looks like my aero 340 is going bad it is wired on a relay and was fine on my other tune. has any one had a aero 340 fail on them? Base pressure was at 40psi goes up to about 55 in boost then above 7,000 rpm fuel pressure drops to 40.

I had that problem with another brand pump and when I pulled it out, the short section of hose had a clamp come loose. Let us know what you find out.

I had this happen to me with two separate Aeromotive 340 pumps. I ended up putting a Walbro pump in and has no issues after that. I don't know if the pumps were failing or what, but I checked and replaced the little hose between the pump and carrier, the clamps on that hose, and the entire carrier but none of those fixed the issue. Swapped the Walbro and all issues were solved.

I had the same problem with the AEM equivalent. My tuner said they are all made in China except the walbro and denso units. Reading other forums, it appears this isn't uncommon.

Make sure the fuel pump is wired correctly. meaning make sure the power wire is a 12 gauge or bigger wire that goes from the battery to a really the. Straight into the pump pump housing into the fuel pump. Make sure you rewire is not the big 12/10 gauge power wire from the relay connected to the skinny 18 gauge factory power wire on top of the fuel pump housing.

For the people running the AEM and Aeromotive 340, should we be worried?

Edit: I just saw riceball's comment, surely this is an electrical issue?

Nah, I had my Aeromotive's wired up the "correct" way when they were acting up. FWIW at one point I had a Walbro running on the full factory wiring for a long time with no issues. The wiring certainly helps you get full voltage at the pump, but its not what is causing this issue with the Aeromotive pumps.

Good info guys thanks. Its not a wiring problem my pump is wired with 10 gauge from the battery, relay, and down to pump. I will post some pictures of how I wired it after I remove it. I have a full blown dual pump hanger on the way with twin walbro 450's, will be running a -8 feed line with -6 return line and fuel lab 40 micron filter.
