Easily 10+ K is needed. (Unless you go with an entry level supercharger and keep the boost low.) Turbo's seem to be very expensive!

I've spent well over 15K on my car alone. Things seem to constantly be breaking and need replacement. It's honestly like a car payment each month.

If you spend around $3000 you can probably get a base comptech sc kit or something without a clutch and no gauges or anything.

Ugh, why the heck does everyone complain about NA being so expensive. >_<

Thanks everyone for helping me on this, maybe I'll just buy some nice wheels.

PS: Sorry this was in the wrong place :\

NA is super expensive if you try to make a bunch extra power. You will spend 10 grand NA and gain 30whp where as with boost you can gain 500hp for the same 10 grand.

Nooo way, i just finished my setup almost and thought i was only going to be spending $4500. Turned out being $6000 +, a lot of things i did not account for when i first took on this build, going to be completely worth it tho..

You guys are all nuts, lol

Granted if you're going for huge power there's going to be a lot of hidden costs, but for entry level FI and 300-350whp you can easily do it for $2k or less if you know how to shop and don't mind some used parts.

I'm pretty cheap though, so other people might have different experiences.

Heck, I've got a twincharged setup that I've decided not to even implement and that wasn't even $3k all together.

lol @ 2k for a decent setup.

A decent tune is 400-600 hundred.

I will LOW BALL the EMS and say $500.

So you just spent 1k on a tune and EMS, BEFORE you bought any parts.

Not building a COMPLETE turbo kit used or otherwise for less than 1k.

That' what I was going to say. I spent $2500 total to supercharge my car 4 years ago, it was my very first mod.

Didn't see he even mentioned turbo kit. SC kit if your liking you can find a used non aftercooled comptech kit for around 2000.

Don't need AEM EMS or a tune. So as long as the used kit you get is complete you can put it on with nothing else and be good to go.

You know they sell entire kits for $700-800 lol. Not that I would use an ebay turbo kit, but that's pretty much a complete kit minus EMS and tune, lol

Anyway, I have a complete kit (to my satisfaction) pieced together from reputable parts for under $1000. Just because you can't imagine doing it doesn't mean it can't be done. With the AEM and fuel it will tip the scales around $1500. The tune I don't even consider because, well, I know people, lol

Not everyone will want to build on a budget like that, but it's possible.
