An FMU is garbage and cannot add any correction for FI to account for the change in density. You really need to get a piggy back or EMS.
I have a vortech v2 but don't have the FMU and was told to get it (bought used) because seller couldn't get his out and told me to go buy one. But I have the vortech piggyback, so I don't need both?

sorry thread jack Modd, didn't want to start a new thread though...

You sure your talking about the same thing? The kit won't work without an fmu at the very least. Nothing will raise the fuel pressure at all without it. The fmu is the piggyback for the vortech kit.
Other boxes just A) hide boost from the ecu and B) pull 3 degrees of timing at redline.

I guess I don't know what I'm talking about

Damn, the guy I got the kit from didn't send me the FMU to my knowledge. How do I go about getting another one

This is what I came up with in search - http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/search...ext=FMU&x=0&y=0

If I swap out mine for the comptech one I have laying around i could sell my vortech one probably. If not can order it direct from Vortech and see if someone who upgraded to aem ems or something is selling theirs.

Vortech sells a rather expensive (upgraded adjustable) rising pressure regulator similar to the comptech just fyi. They should have incorporated this in their base kit to begin with

^Was just looking at that. Only shows a 7:1 option though so not sure if it can add more fuel per psi than that or not.
Or maybe those are just presets and can adjust much more idk.

I believe it mentions that this ratio can be adjusted. In this regard it is better then the comptech, but this means you need to understand what your doing with one more adjustment. I take that over learning to tune an EMS

Thanks for the post.

I agree and disagree with you on the EMS. On one hand you get a device that can really dial in your tune great given the user is doing their job. on the other hand your trading the most reliable ECU (Honda) for one that has proven to have its inherent issues... such as injector driver failures, OEM Honda control functions, OBD2 compliancy and more... For me, I've had pretty great success with a rising rate fpr and a few other "shit ass solutions" to get my power down to the ground. I think any user can F up a system if they are not familiar enough with its strength/weaknesses to know how to utilize them to their reliable capacity. When you start getting greedy and ignoring your intuition you can have problems, when the equipment you choose to use isn't operating to its full capacity you can have problems, and then your ability to run a tune that is safe for your driving habits is crucial as well. And then of course having the ability to monitor your basic running condition of the motor such as afr is a must. Just my 02.

I've been running my trusty FPR/VAFC set up for years, 75k+ miles. And with the addition of the Meth last year, I was able to up the boost and gain an added measure of safety at the same time. But I realize I'm a bit of an anomaly making 360whp with stock injectors in the s2k club.
i have to admit, your car has been very reliable with those lol shit ass solutions in place.
