Default after install for Vortech kit

ive research a lot regarding the CTSC and i thought VTSC is set-up the same as the other brand other than drilling a hole the oil pan and for the fuel rail modification. after i search last night in this forum i came a cross that awaken me regarding the kit from Vortech. now im wieghing my option as to what charger should i install? i already bought a CTSC w/AC used for 2k miles in 2 months from the previous owner and everything is there except for the fuel pump. and now theres a local guy selling his VTSC w/AC but it came with bad black box, can i still drive the car if ever i install the VTSC kit after the install without the electronic control box(ECB) that came with the kit from VT? i have a VAFC2 w/ P&P and emanage blue w/o the P&P so how can i run the car without damaging the engine? the seller that selling his kit will help me installing the VT but my tuner and home is an hour away. would it still be ok to run the engine for that long? if so how high can i go with the RPM on my way back? less than 4k on the RPM? your help and input is greatly appriciated.

P.S. can i swap the rising rate from the CT kit to VT kit and run the car w/o some kind of emanage just that VT kit set-up minus the ECB so sound like a CTSC set-up in stock w/ 7lb pulley.

Most of us that have the VTSC Kit have ditched the Factory Black Box in favor of the AEM-EMS 1052/1052U. This also gives you the option of upgrading later.
Vortech has had problems with the Black Box but if the original owner sends the unit back, they will replace it with a new one.
If you opt for the AEM-EMS, just have someone send you a base map and that will enable you to drive it home until you get it re-tuned. I wouldn't risk driving it with a bad box. Just Tow it. Another option is buying a new Black Box from one of the fellow memebers on S2KI who isn't using theres.
Good Luck with the decision

I have the black box, but the programmable one from Split Second Tuning directly, but will eventually move to an AEM later when i feel like spending that much. For now the programmable black box works just fine for me and my laptop.

You could just leave the belt off until you're ready to tune it. As I recall xviper drove his that way for a couple of weeks during his install.

You can leave the belt on and just don't floor it or see boost.

For a week or 10 days every two years I drive around at 1/2 throttle or less with the unprotected factory ecu and map sensor. No boost = no problem and no check engine lights.

Is that for emissions testing or for some other reason?

Sideways--thanks for chiming in. now im really convince that this is possible.

at first i was hesitant to do this but it make sence now to me as an SC will only boosted up at higher RPM compared to TC. im just curious as this would be my first time FI'ing a car, to those of you guys with 7lbs pulley and boost guage. how much boost is being produce to the engine @ 4k RPM in terms of PSI?
