i see you live in texas. well an aftercooler prevents heatsoak so the longer you drive the car the hotter the intake temps are gonna get. an aftercooler is going to cool the air charge before it enter the throttle body to give you better intake temps=more power. i dont know how much boost you are gonna run but anything over stock boost i would get one

Hard to get one now for the Comptech supercharger. I wonder how difficult it would be to custom fab an aftercooler.

is an aftercooler "necessary"

No its not "necessary". What is your setup, stock boost?

For example last month I drove my car 2,000 miles at 9psi with no aftercooler. And I drove the car extremely hard for all 2,000 miles.

However I would highly recommend you get the aftercooler.... I guess the more information you give us the better we can help you make an informative decision and with that said you didn't really give us any information.

and to answer this question I have been running without one at 9psi problem free. However I am currently in the process of fabricating a FMIC to help with the heat.

If you're going that high with boost you might want to cool the air down. When I was running 10psi I gained some hp by hooking up the bigger radiator to cool water down. It def helps esp if you live in a hot area.
