Default Aftermarket Radiators

Question - besides the obvious answer of venting the hood which I prefer not to do, will an aftermarket radiator help keep temps down? The serial gauge is telling I'm at about 199-205 when I'm cruising on the highway (it's warm out) but when I'm in the city (stop and go) I'm running up to 217. Although it comes down quick, those numbers make me uncomfortable Thanks for advice.

It will keep the engines temps down but since I don't know if you are turboe'd or not, if you are, don't expect it to keep the exhaust manifold temps down which are the real issue...

Yep, turbo.

You're talking about ambient temperature right Tyraid, which I'm assuming the only way to deal with is ventilation.

I'm specifically referring to coolant temp.

You shouldn't be uncomfortable with those temps, they are the same as mine and I live in FL and drive my car daily with no heat issues.

the biggest drop of anything i have done is just running 80% water / 20% coolant mix.......with a bottle of waterwetter($6) and the addition of a Mugen thermostat ($70)......as long as your cursing the water going back into the block should read between 160-170 depending on how cool it is outside.

The double core koyo rad does help too.....but remember....if your sitting in traffic the stock fan switch does not kick on until 215 degrees in the radiator.....thats 240+ in the block.....THATS HOT!!!

So i just bought the new HKS FAN Controller that looks like a turbo timer....its perfect......you can set the fans to kick on and off at any temp you want.....that way my water temps never rise above 175 in the rad and 200 in the block. I had lost 2/10 th's and (2mph) in the 1/4 mile one night before i added this electronic fan switch....i was sitting on the line and my fans would wait untill 215 degrees to kick on and thats wayyy to hot.....so i added the switch and my times are always consistant now

Shouldn't my EMS be able to control when the fan comes on?
