Im not sure why you would go through all the trouble. I have around 10k on my turboed s2k with the air pump still installed, Ive never had any problems. Why would you want to delete it?, please someone explain to me.

It's not a problem. It was a matter of principle with me for 3 reasons:

1. Can't stand that darned light being on.

2. Don't know if there's a different CEL code out there that needs to be addressed.

3. Engine in limp (closed loop?) mode.

And then I just went with a standalone...

I could have a LOT of fun with this post but, alas I'm getting older and wiser.

Good luck with that.

really you could have alot of fun is that why there is about 3 reputable companies making kits for the s2k with a fmu.... oh wait and I have had my turbo kit on for about 6k miles at 8psi....did a leakdown and compression test this weekend, compression test results cylinder1- 220 cylinder2- 219 cylinder3- 220 cylinder4- 217. oh and on leakdown there was not one psi of leak...... please comment on the extensive damage im doing to my engine.....

I'm thinking boost will be blowing out past the EGR valve. I don't know if it can hold boost, since originally it's designed to hold only vacuum. What's everyone do, cap that flange? Leave the EGR on?

Another check that the ECU is using is to have exhaust reported as being on the lean side when the pump is running. That can probably be taken with a relay and a circuit.

Remember, turbo sucks air in through the intake, and it only sucks in as much as its RPMs will allow. So adding air to the intake (through the pump) probably won't help.

Ok, I'll bite.

First off, no one said anything about damage so I dunno where you're getting that from.

FMU's work for fuel. Here's a simple question, what about your ignition? Ignition values/curves are not the same for N/A as they are for FI.

Since you're running such low boost, its probably not the most damaging solution you can run. But believe if you ever want to achieve good power, that FMU eventually will not cut it. You're on borrowed time. If anything, you're down on power because of the unoptimized ignition tables.

One more thing, the quip about "reputable" companies doesn't hold any weight. You said there's 3, but neglected to post their names or links to their kits. I'd be interested to see what they look like. Full-Race could make a kit with a FMU and I wouldn't run it so the whole thing about a "reputable" company doesn't matter to any of us that know what the hell we're talking about.

But again, good luck with that. Glad its holding up for you.

i think the real issue wiht the air pump on a turbo car is many times its in the way of the piping.

whatever the case may be, mine is gone but i am running stand alone, so it was useless anyways.

as for FMU, well, i hate them from experience. get atleast an EMU and bigger injectors. raising fuel pressure is old school shitty/cheap way to FI a car.

if you can deal with the light being on dont hook it up, you dont need it whatsoever. once those delete kits come out go that route, air pump is JUNK.
