Default For all the Turbonetics Godzilla BOV owners...

Ok...I just installed my Godzilla BOV on my Comptech supercharger. It took a long time (the directions provided suck) and I think I have all the connections right.

Anyways, the BOV goes off every shift from 2nd til 6th (if I shift above 4k RPM). Sounds okay...not like turbo systems (yes, I've done extensive searching on S2KI and I understand that BOV will not sound as cool on superchargers).

The only thing is, the BOV constantly releases (more like whistles) while decelerating. It's really annoying, especially on the freeway because when I let go of the accelerator, the whistling is really loud. In any gear, the whistling doesn't stop until the RPM's decrease below 4k RPM. It sucks because I like to downshift to engine brake; now I have to pop it in neutral for the loud whistling to go away.

I've heard of other members complaining because their BOV's won't go off...but I can't get mine to shut up (although I like the brief WHOOSH on the upshifts). I've tried tightening and loosening the bolt on top of the BOV, but it doesn't do anything.

Help anyone???

Mine does not "whistle" it is a loud blowing sound when I am not on the gas.

Do you have the vac. line in the top?

Yup, I have the vaccuum line connecting from the BOV to the engine intake manifold. There are actually two holes in the BOV; I tried both and only one causes the BOV to release. I have no idea what the other hole is for.

Anyone?

Not sure on the Godzilla, but I know on the Greddy type-s I had it would get the same little whistle at low boost to vacuum conditions. The reason it whisles is that there isn't a lot of pressure and only opens the BOV a little bit...kinda like opening your mouth wide and blowing (easy guys) compared to opening your mouth slightly and blowing (whistling). The way to fix it so it doesn't whistle is to tighten the spring on the top so it takes more boost pressure to open the valve..the problem with that is you might get compressor surge (not sure if that's a problem with SC..I know it is with turbos). Hope this helps.

Why did you buy the BOV? Just for the sound?

Mine does the same exact thing.. unless I am actually on the throttle it releases air, even if i am just cruising i hear it. just had to learn to deal with it.

Bare with me and I can try to explain the two holes. The top hole is hooked to the manifold and under boost pushes the pistion in the BOV closed...uder vacuum it helps lift the piston up to vent pressure in the intake track. The other nipple (lower) is there only to allow air to move freely in the piston area of the BOV. The piston is usualy shaped like an H, round disk on top, shaft (where the lower nipple is), the another round disk on bottom. If you where to plug this hole or hook it up to anything, the BOV would not function properly, because the air inside the piston area would become presurized over time. Hope this makes sence...I had a diagram of a BOV which showed it perfectly, I'll see if I can find it.

How do you adjust the spring on the BOV? I tried loosening and tighting the bolt that fits on the screw sticking out the top of the BOV, but no avail.
