Default for all your HKS SSBOV users

hey all.

well i just bought my hks ssbov and had a few questions...

i know that it must be welded on using the flange, but yesterday just to test it out, i wrapped the L bracket and made the bottom of the BOV fit pretty snug, just for testing out.. turned the car on and no leaks.. when i opened the throttle i could see the bov moving and felt it releasing air...

the problem is, that i felt and heard it just releasing air.. but no real bov sound.. just more of like a big release of a large amount of air.. nothing close to a bov sound..

now i know welding should make a difference, along with the spring tension.. but once i get it welded on the pipe that should make a complete difference??? i dont want to have to go through the hassle of welding and it gives me the same results..

as for spring tension, is it suppose to be tight all the way down or lose?? or mid.. i tried different settings and only notice that it made no difference..

i have searched all night till the wee hours of the morning for answers.. but have seen that 50% of people have had their HKS work good, and the others have had no success...

on this board with most users using the godzilla BOV i just wanted to get some help and input from fellow HKS SSBOV owners..

thanks.

That's just a flange adapter to run a hose on the HKS. The HKS is pretty much universal and it's the flange the makes it "car-specific". I ran the HKS on TT, which utilized at 1" flange adapter.

Here's a pic:

Mine works just fine. I say run it only as tight as you don't hear any compressor surge, that's the only real purpose for it. If you're gonna be around Sunday in SD I can help you tune as well.
