Default allowable play

What is the allowable shaft play for a precision 6262 journal bearing turbo?

I just recently bought one and have not yet installed it. With it completely dry of oil I can get the compressor wheel to touch the housing by hand after a couple back forth motions. It has no axial play that I can feel.
I put a decent amount of oil into the feed with a funnel and spun the turbo by hand. It seemed to get better. .
So am I just paranoid and will this be ok with oil pressure or no.

Also what size line and restrictor if any should I use with this. Thanks
Dan

Use a -3 oil feed with no restrictor and take your oil feed from the oil filter relocation block on the engine.

You will have a bit of radial play when the turbo is dry because the oil seals are dry. When you get it on the car and running, the seals will swell up and take up that play. The axial play is where you want it to be tighter but also, if the seals are dry, you will have more play than if they are wet and swelled.

Side to side is fine. In and out is dead.

Sorry to bump this, but I just measured the stainless line that was included in my used kit. The actual hole of the an fitting measured out to about .122" which to my calculations means a -2an line.

Is this ok to use with my 6262sp jb turbo or should i go bigger. Do you think dmage was done to the turbo by the previous owner by using a -2an line?

-2an is too small, get a -3 or a -4an w/ .065" restrictor

Are you sure its a -2? My -3 line ID is roughly .100", the fitting ID on the line is that size anyway. Mine is made by Russell and could be a brake line but I got it from Ultimate Racing and it's been just fine on my 6262 JB with NO restrictor and it has also been just fine one my other JB turbo's with no failures.

hopefully it is 3an then. I boughrt it used and have no idea. So I'm glad yours is the same id. I never really knew how companies measure stuff like this. All I know is that my Id was .122 and that two 16ths is .125. Anyone have a for sure measurement? Thanks
