Default Amsoil

I have Heard Mobil 1 may do some naughty things to our TCT, I was thinking of switching to AMSOIL 10W-30 100% Synthetic OIl

Thoughts..........

I HIGHLY recommend you switch to either Amsoil or Redline.

I had two tensioners go bad the second only after one month of use. (They actually just make noise due to wear or polishing of the internal worm gear).

I have since changed to Redline and have had zero problems.

Both oils are far superior to Mobil one as seen in the oil journals and many other proven sources.

I use mobil 1 without any problems as far as the TCT goes. I have a hard time believing oil affects it...

me? haha nah, my car is still making some weird noises in VTEC I dont know if its ceramic parts in my Catalytic converter breaking apart and banging around or what, but I have been easy on my car until I can change to a 2.5 inch BERK HFC and install the AEM Meth Injection (for detonation protection just in case) and then I am going to put it on a dyno and see what its doing before I go get it tuned again, the additional $500 for the tune as well as driving down to VA is something I dont want to do right now................

Who really cares if it does or doesn't effect the TCT. That of course is just hearsay and I agree that the problem may not be the oil. (Although a very large majority that have the problem are running or ran Mobil 1)

The proven FACT backed by data is that Amsoil and Redline are both far superior oils compared to Mobil 1.

Its funny you mention the TCT. I switched to Mobil 1 within the last 3 oil changes and my valve train (ticking) or TCT seems to be much louder. It could be coincidental, but I am changing my TCT and oil just to be sure. Redline syn 0-40 looks like the best option.

I use to use Mobil 1 pretty consistently and decided once I got my SC to switch to Amsoil 15/40 euro blend. I might go down to a 5/40 now that the weather is cooling off. I noticed after a few weeks of running with Amsoil that the engine and supercharger mechanical noise decreased significantly. You get what you pay for. Yeah it a $100 oil change but its better then a premature engine rebuild.

Same here. Used it for 40,000 miles, no issues.

Mobil1 is not going to cause an engine rebuild that any other oil would otherwise prevent.

I would like to see a proven failure due to Mobil1 (and not some other latent problem). When I read the oil journals (over a year ago), I thought the general gist of it was that modern synthetics are all decent. Some better than others, but between the major brands, its kind of splitting hairs. I thought that it was agreed upon that one was not worth that much extra per quart, for what extra benefits it offers.
