Same here. Used it for 40,000 miles, no issues.

Mobil1 is not going to cause an engine rebuild that any other oil would otherwise prevent.

I would like to see a proven failure due to Mobil1 (and not some other latent problem). When I read the oil journals (over a year ago), I thought the general gist of it was that modern synthetics are all decent. Some better than others, but between the major brands, its kind of splitting hairs. I thought that it was agreed upon that one was not worth that much extra per quart, for what extra benefits it offers.

I listen to the motor and look at the oil quality and smell after X given miles, I also notice at what point the oil starts to get used up. I run my car 100 miles everyday, So I end up changing my oil average every other month, that's allot, so for me its important to extend my change intervals as long as I can safely. I do a filter change at 3000miles and then change the oil at about 5000miles. The mobile just didn't seem to hold up as long as the Amsoil. I can tell when the car starts using, its degrading. That means premature engine wear compared to an oil that might get another 1000 or 2000 out of before the same results happen, and offer marginal better protection during its use.

I just made the switch to amsoil and I'm pretty happy so far. I agree that engine noise has almost gone away. I would recommend going with a heavier oil than 10w-30. I'm running 20w-50 in the summer and in the winter I will be running 10w-40.

I ran Mobil1 10w30 when I was NA. Same change intervals as you (5k)... how can you chance just the filter? I imagine a good bit would need to be replaced. I replaced mine with every change (mobil1 filter). I saw no consumption after I installed the Krankvents (it would regularly consume almost 1qt / 1000 miles without them). I tend to change the oil when it looks more "inconsistent" when looking at it, than the mileage (it took around 5k miles NA... down to 3k with the turbo now).

I also listen to my car... I am freakin' anal about every little tick. I think my TCT is finally starting to let go (not sure... it does not sound like the videos. I am having a valve job done sometime in the next week or so... its also never had a valve tune done, and its about time anyways), but I am at 90k miles, and am within the MY spec for replacement anyhow...
