Default Anodized impeller

While doing some research online about pros and cons and whether it's worth it to upgrade my standard novi1000 impeller to a billet one I found a couple anodized ones for snowmobiles and skidoos. They're anodized for protection. I'm assuming it's because of the atmosphere they're operating in. I thought this might be a cool idea and want to try it out. I have a friend telling me it might add material on top and cause clearance issues but I know anodizing is a dye that goes into the metal.

What are your guys thoughts on this? And is there anyone here with the billet wheel upgrade that can speak from experience if the cfm/power increase was worth the extra $400?

Thanks

Oh and BTW I'm sending the novi1000 unit out for a rebuild instead of the sos nv1200 due to the extra cost being close to double the amount for the rebuild and upgrade

anodizing is a very thin stack up, depending on if you get type 1 or 2. I think the coating is less than .001 thick, search Wikipedia for the specifics. You might want to have them plug the shaft hole since that is the only critical area on the impeller. Cost should be under $100 at any reputable anodizer.

No offense, but this seems like a waste of time and money to me. I would just fork out the cash and replace the outdated N1000 with a N1200.

Okay, to rebuild the n1000 is about $800-1000(if I don't upgrade the impeller, $500).

The new n1200 would cost me roughly $2000+. I don't see why it makes no sense...I might aswell sell my kit and buy a brand new one.

SOS will sell you a 1200 for $1700. And if they feel generous, they will let it go for $1600. Paxton list them at $2300, however will give you an exchange credit for typically about $500 or can be as high as $1000 ive been told depending on condition. I opted to just go with the SOS option and sold the old NV1000 to someone here for around $400. In effect you could end up spending about the same money, but you will have a brand new blower that will put out 1150cfm instead of a meager 900cfm. This difference is worth at minimum 50whp direct swap and up to 130whp as some here have reported over what the NV1000 can provide depending on the supporting mods.
