Default Another Supercharger question - Gears

Anyone with 300+ Whp change out the final drive to have "shorter" gears?

I would assume it would hurt gas milage... but I would think it would help 4th, 5th and 6th gear accelerate faster?

Boost is like a drug right lol.... somehow need to go faster!

I was running 4.56 gears with my Comptech SC'd AP1. I liked that setup a lot

i didn't think that anybody with FI really worried about miles per gallon, if they did they'd have a prius or something...

if you have a centrifugal supercharger, i would assume shorter gears will be benficial because you will hit peak boost faster. The nature of cenrtifiguals is to make boost by rpm so the faster your revs climb, the faster reach your peak power. Someone enlighten me if i'm wrong though. haha

you are correct.. you would run through gears faster.. as far as mpg.. it hurts because to cruise at 75 would put you close to 5k rpms vs the 4k rpms you are when youre cruising

I had an SC and 456's. I liked them a lot. However, when I went higher boost and put down 370whp I went back to 410's as the gears became too short for the power IMHO.

don't get the gears... if anything... get LOWER gears. i had 4.44 when i was supercharged making 380whp on dyno dynamics.

when i switched to turbo i went ahead and got 3.90 gears. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!! those longer gears are much more fun when racing too
