Another TRANS and DIFF solution
I just picked up the new honda tuning out of the mailbox this morning and flipped through it to see Top Fuel's AP1 Type RR turbo S2000. I read through the article and I see that they actually utilized a Silvia S15 five speed. They used a multi plate OS Giken clutch and for the rear they swapped in a limited slip diff from an RX7. I figured this is another option for us and they have made alittle over 600hp on this setup for the last 3 years with little to no issues.
It obviously has to be an ok setup if it has lasted on a track only race car for 3 years. seems like it may be worth a try. If it wasn't a decent combo then why would a reputable place like Top Fuel use it? I mean they have a full carbon body ap1 that weighs in at 2000lbs, its not like they couldn't afford a better higher dollar setup. But instead they went off the beaten path a tried something new. Just an idea though

Kinda weird, the S15´s I´ve seen are all 6-speed. 5 speed in S13 and S14. Nissan have great gearboxes, abused a bunch of them and they´re solid for a stock tranny. Not like the Supra and BMW box but a bit better than ours.
If I made the adapter, linkage and clutch I think I would use a better one, too much work for the extra 100ft/lbs IMO.
These are my options -> US tranny (Camaro or Mustang), BMW ZF, 350Z or custom seq.
Interested in the RX7 rear, final drive ratio?
