Anyone here tracking an inlinePro turbo'd S2K?
Is anyone here regularly tracking an S2000 with an inlinePro turbo kit?
I've been tracking my Comptech w/ after cooler S2000 for a little over a year and I'm considering moving to a turbo. I'm interested in actual track experience. I'm especially interested in getting insight on temp management, throttle response and reliability.
TIA

Ha, man its saturday this forum moves oh so slow on the weekends. Give it some time, im sure someone will chime in. BTW, i have an inline kit, but dont track the car but like i said someone will give some input sooner or later
Not inlinePRO, but going for a track turbo car:

The essentials are the cooling mods. Upgraded rad for water temps, Mugen thermostat for water temp, 1.3bar radiator cap for water temp, oil cooler for the oil (removed the factory water cooler), and to cool the combustion chamber down I've installed the aquamist water injection system.
I also went with open deck sleeves on my built engine for the same reason instead of worring about gasket sealing area.

What nakes you think you want a turbo? Are you unhappy with the power production?
I'd like more power at lower RPM. The Comptech has been very reliable so far on track. I did at least 2 track days a week with very few exceptions this season starting in late Mar running through last weekend. I'm happy with the Comptech; though the challenge is that the super charger bumps me up in class as much as a turbo, yet I can get more power and power earlier with a turbo.
Only race series here that makes sense (running often enough to be interesting) is the local Miller Park Race Association (MPRA) series. Classing rules put my current setup in the same group as race prep'd Evos, which is fine. My times are putting me in the top 3 or 4 at each event. Many of the Evos are running race slicks and I've been running DOT Rs (Kumho 710s).
I'm going to a non-staggered setup for next season with CCW 18x10s all around and will be running race slicks. I think that will put me solidly in top 2 or 3. Together with a reliable, well setup turbo I think my chances of running right up front are good.
Cooling mods are already all in place. Over sized radiator, oil cooler and the car is stripped. Weight reduction helped a LOT with keeping temps nice and low. BTW ... I really wouldn't consider a Mugen thermostat as a meaningful cooling mod for the track.
So far I've yet to find anyone regularly tracking a turbo S2000. It has only been a couple days since I posted this though.

With a watercooled turbo the water temps get hot very quickly.
There aren't any regularly tracked turbo S2000's that I know of either that has survived. Removing the A/C condenser was a good move. I am thinking of making a few more things on my car to direct air flow a bit better. I am very anal and over-do things all the time though.
I think that the vented hood & aquamist will give me the best protection.

Do a search for old cbender posts. He tracked his car hard, had LOTS of problems but in the end got it fairly sorted out. Incidently, it took so long, and cost him enough, that he lost interest in the project and confidence in longevity and bought an Elise that was reliable and could be driven as often as he likes to without all the upkeep/maintanance and development.
There is a guy on the east coast (I think his name is giles) who cbender told me was resolving the egt issues which were the biggest problem with engine longevity they had left. I believe giles has a shop out there.
Good luck.

What about some 4.44 gears? I know that some people don't like them when racing on tracks because of different shift points and lower high end, but maybe they'd work in your case.
The 4.44s aren't as agressive as the 4.57s and 4.77s and if your near stock boost it shouldn't be that bad.
Also, you can stick with the S/C and regular gears and up the boost!
