Default Anyone modified their Vortech oil return?

I have a Vortech S/C and didnt realise that the Comptech oil return is much simpler.

Anyone know why the oil pan has to be drilled on the Vortech, and why they didn't go back to the oil drain plug?

Someone told me it was to do with oil level in the sump, and therefore pressure, but surely it doesnt matter as there is enough pressure in the return?

Would be a nice mod to put it back to the drain plug IMO.

I don't have a Comptech to compare too, so there may be a hose routing issue. The Vortech returns oil above the oil in the pan, not at the bottom of the pan at the drain plug.

The 2 SC units may have different oiling requirements. you could give Vortech a call to see if there is a issue changing the oil return location.

Will do.

Bit late for me now though. I had a spare oil pan drilled and tapped that I will fit fairly soon. Its a bit -ve to the kit over the comptech though! Surprised they haven't tried to remedy it.

Guess if they've seen more pressure in the pan be higher than the return line, its going to "dead head" the returning oil.

I've talked to Vortech about this issue.
They only recommend "resistance free oil return" and will not honour their warranty if you set it up this way.

Interesting. I imagine it would backup the oil return as it would need a little extra pressure to get into the sump.

Shame really

Nooooooooooo!

I wanted to do that. Did you have to have a longer hose and fitting to get to the pan, or is it the same thread?
