Default Avoid tapping your Oil Pan with a Vortech SC

I had a few members ask me how I accomplished this. I believe that if the Comptech kit works perfectly with an adapter to the oil pan, why wouldn't the Vortech! Go onto Summit's website Summitracing.com and buy the following adapter. You will also need to pickup a copper 14MM crush washer from your local autoparts store. The total cost for this setup is under $20. My existing Vortech drain hose hooked up perfectly with the ideal slack.

Part Number
EAR-9919EFHERL

Part Description
-8 AN TO 14MM-1.5 ADAPTER

My real question would be why the hell Vortech won't give you this $20 dollar setup to begin with! I hope this helps out my fellow Vortech friends

Vortech wanted the oil return above the bottom of the pan so oil doesn't back up in the blower and cause a leak.

I don't see how this makes any sense. I've never seen oil defy gravity and go up an oil line on its own. There is positive oil pressure going into the SC thus the return line will have oil flowing down all the time.

Just wait until you change your oil, screw up the threads, and burn your self.
I change my oil twice a year. Also, when you disconnect the line, to drain the oil, you don't remove the installed fitting into the pan. Changing your oil normally and over torquing your drain plug can have the same affect. I will take my chances as this is an extremely small potential "burn" and very unlikely if your careful and take your time.

I agree. Both my Comptech and Greddy kit are like this and I have never had any problems.

I've changed the oil several times with no problems and haven't burned myself.

The oil return to the drain plug is out of convenience, nothing else.

Oil is sprayed into the SC vertically from the oil jet, then collects in the bottom of the gear case to be returned to the pan.

Put a hole in the bottom of a glass and connect a hose to it. Then fill it up with water and try to get more water to go in the hose. Gravity is hurting you as much as helping.

Returning oil above the oil level in the pan is recommended by Vortech and just about every OEM turbocharged car out there.
