AP1 or AP2...
I had my eye on a 2000 S2000, but was checking Manheim and found a killer deal on a 04. I really like the visual changes of the car and the fact that it is newer.
What are the pro and cons of boost the 2.2 over the 2.0 if any?

it doesnt matter...you need to call IP and get the 2.5L stroker kit.....so get the cheaper one
Plus there are some people out now making 500+ on stock motor with not issues.
I could see it if I were looking for super high HP numbers, but I am not.

once you go boost you get addicted and you will eventually want big numbers....but if not get the 2.2
That is why I think 350-400 HP would be just fine.
Now the problem is trying to figure out which kit and S/C or Turbo.

Dont really need the stroker. Nice to have no doubt, but not necessary. Just keep the revs up and youre good!

There has been some debate about the difference in the cams and ability to flow under boost and some claim the 2.0 liter is better, butI would say go look at stock dyno numbers and you'll find newer ones always make more power stock. Then go to the SOS website and look at what their new kit dynos on 2000-2003 vs 2004-2005, vs 2006+. The newer ones make more power and torque with the kit added.
If you are looking at power and torque, the bigger engine will probably be superior, some might argue that the lower redline will be safer too.
I have no evidence as to how well one holds up over time, and many will argue the point, but I would go with the larger displacement if I were buying, and I own a 2001 AP1.
I am happy with it but if I did it over again I would get a newer model. I will be boosting mine this summer.
You can make either car fast with boost, so don't worry about that part and SC's seem to be pretty safe if set up correctly on either engine. Turbos can be made to be very safe and reliable, but its not quite as easy to accomplish.

yeah, go with the AP2, I have the AP1 no complaints but you will want the 17
' rims and better looking front end. The only thing I would lean toward AP1 is the higher rev and price cause they are not all that different. So you may be able to buy an ap1 and boost it for the price of the AP2. The AP2 looks like your Vtec is so short compared to the AP1.
