Are 4.57's too much rear end in an ap2 with a Comptech SC?

I wouldn't say they are to much. In fact, I really think they are necessary. Once you bolt the charger on, you will be surprised how much power it takes from your low end. Keep in mind, the Comtech charger is belt driven by your engine. Down low...it saps some of the cars power. The gears don't give you any more power...but they help you accelerate into that boost "sweet spot" faster than stock gears.

I really think you need to drive mine and find out for yourself. Let me know when you want to get together to take it for a spin. I think you will like the way 300 hp feels in an S2K.

I agree Dennis. I have been meaning to call you and get your impressions. I was looking for some others whoi may have gone this route to help me get an idea of the way want to go. I really dont want to go back to the 4.10's, but I was thinking that the 4.57's may be too much gear with is setup. I'll give you a call.....

I understand your concern. Frankly, I was afraid of the same thing. After we had our gears changed, I was surprised how quick the car pulled to redline. However, with the supercharger added, the pull seemed to slow a little down low and increase up top. I'm not postive since I had the gears before the charger...but I think stock gearing would slow the pull even more. Perhaps others can comment on this as well?

I'm happy with the combo. The only thing that irks me is that the charger kicks in hard around 6K and continues to build power to 8200 RPM. IMO...that really isn't much of a rev range to enjoy the boost. The 4.57s probably make this "sweet spot" fly by even faster. I really think an AP2 needs to have VTEC lowered to fully enjoy the power!

Guess what my next mod will be???

I would take you up on that ride, since I don't know how an S feels with a SC. I driven several turbo cars, never in a SC car.
