Default AP2 Supercharger recommendations for 300rwhp

I have a low mileage 2007 AP2 that's completely stock. I'd like to purchase a turn-key (with tuning) supercharger kit that will give me approximately 300rwhp. I'd like to keep the stock exhaust because I don't like aftermarket import exhaust sounds plus I like the oem look, and I'd like to keep the stock clutch until it gives out. I am very worried about destroying the drivetrain by going overboard, so I'd like to be as careful and conservative as possible.

- From reading the forum it sounds like 300rwhp from a supercharger will not damage the car unless I start launching it; is that an accurate statement? Will the engine last 100k miles with the supercharger on it, or am I considerably reducing engine life? I have a heavy foot and I like to take the car to redline often, but I don't bounce off the limiter, track it, or go crazy.

- Is there a summary available anywhere that lists the available supercharger kits for the car, with descriptions? I see comtech, vortech, hks, kraftwerks.... and I don't really know the difference between them. Are some easier to install? Are some more dependable? What's the cheapest option?

- Given my goal of 300whp, what would be both the most economical and easy to install kit? I am seeing pricing around $6k, is that pretty much the same with all the kits?

- I have some mechanical knowledge, I could change out an alternator or water pump, do plugs/wires, etc.. Is installation of a supercharger (in my dirt back yard) going to stress me out?

Thanks

sos is probably your best bet ct engineering will get you there too not sure about the new kraftwerks kit as far as tuning. I have an old comptech kit at 9 psi 340whp on a dyno dynamics and as far as the clutch goes I think it will fail due to the delay valve which is there to save the drivetrain. I had 300whp at 7psi and did that for 15k miles before I upped the boost. as far as mileage with a good tune it shouldn't be a problem run good oil have it analyzed to determine motor health do a valve adjustment as the exhaust valves tend to be tight and that will cause problems with higher output. I would also recommend a test pipe after about 6k miles mine started to eat itself car felt like it gained 50hp save the trouble or run a highflow cat good luck

Comptech or SOS. I guarantee you'll want to up the boost however. 300whp with a sc kit gets old quick!

300whp would be 5-6 psi which is nothing.

I have 189k miles on my stock engine now. I boosted it at 125k miles. I am running 12 psi making over 400whp at redline.

With a good safe tune it will last a long time!!

With a supercharger, shoot for 400whp! Then you might be a little more satisfied.

Ok ok, mayyybe 350rwhp If I can get to low to mid 12's quarter miles I'll remain content - I've had cars that fast before and that's enough to keep me interested. I won't actually be taking it down the strip, but that's just a ballpark on what I'd need to be happy.

If my car has 45k miles do I need to have the valves adjusted?

I have a small dead spot around 2-3k rpms that only seems to appear once in awhile, do I need to get that sorted before installing a kit?

I see the list prices are $6k for most of these kits, are people getting them at discounts? Are list prices sort of like new car msrp?

Also, i see some kits don't require tuning.. Should it be tuned anyway to be safe?

Always better and safer to have it professionally tuned.

I run the vortech, and I absolutely love mine.

Vortech V2, 1000cc injectors, walbro 255, comptech header, hks exhaust, front mount intercooler with custom charge piping, and fully tuned on a aem ems making 397 whp. I just switched out the crappy 60mm hks for a full 3 inch dual and hoping for ~410 next week.

But as everyone else has said, make sure you get tuned and don't go for 300...you'll want more. I have had 400 now for a little over a year and I contemplate buying a si trim and going for 500 now lol. It's a disease. You'll just keep wanting more.

300whp is easily achievable. There have been a bunch of good used kits for sale lately that will save you tons of money. I have 128,000 miles on my OEM clutch and it's holding just fine at 300whp. Never slips. With a good tune your motor will last a very long time
