Who is running an open wastegate dumptube? And who has it welded back into the exhaust?

My wastegate is dumping into the atmosphere, and i have been thinking about welding it into the exhaust. What are the pro/cons?

Thx

I rerouted mine back into the downpipe. I am very pleased with the sound..or should I say lack of sound =).

Open dump here There are a few pro and cons to how you route your dump tube.

One major down side of routing it into your exhaust is you have to make sure you bring the dump in at the same flow of your exhaust. In other words where your dump comes in to your down pipe should be at 40degrees of angle or LESS the smaller the degree of angle the better the flow.

I know this might seem hard to believe but a friend of mine lost 45whp because of bad placement into the downpipe. But then again his car still made 653whp.

I think at my power levelI wouldn't have to worry about losing THAT much power... but then again if it makes you lose power then it's better to have it done properly... Thanks for the info

I'm running an open dump tube. There is something about the sound...

I would think running it back into your exhaust would be a little more ECO friendly, that is if you had a catalytic converter.

I've run both. I prefer rerouting for sound, but open for power. The open dump tubes tend to have less boost creep vs recirculated ones.
