Thumbs up Average labor cost to go FI

I would like to know the average labor cost to install a turbocharger or supercharger. Yesterday I received a quote of $2500 to install a turbo kit. I was surprised by that cost as I thought it was a bit high. If that is the industry norm than so be it.

For those of you who have recently had a turbocharger or supercharger installed, can you please tell me what you paid for labor?

Full-Race Stage 2 kit. Price does not include tuning and only covers the parts that are included in the kit. Installation of items like an upgraded clutch, radiator, etc. would be at an additional labor cost.

Mechanics bid very high when they really don't want the job. It has to provide for the college fund if they are going to do it. Shop around.

Turbo installation is more than supercharger but still $2500 is a bit steep. Comtechs usually run about $500. Vortechs run $800 to $1000.

^ Thanks for the info. The quote I got was from a shop who does A LOT of turbo installs and $2500 is their basic labor charge.

Just for reference, InlinePRO will install their stage 2 kit for $2,000.00 which includes pulling the head and installing their 3mm head gasket which is a lot of work.

When I got my Vortech 3 yrs ago, I paid $2K to have it installed (and the work warrantied) by my local Honda dealer. Granted, a turbo install (esp Full Race) is a bit more involved. But $2500 still seems a bit high.
