Smile Bad gas = Detonation :(

Well, after doing some thinking it appears that a shitty EMPORIUM gas station was the cause for my detonation. I let my fuel tank get close to empty, then went to EXXON and filled it up with 93, and the car has been running very stron every since with no signs of detonation, both on the plugs and audibly. Just wanted to share with you guys to be careful of scummy gas stations..................

Will running 100 octane/An octane booster mess it up?

Funny I just did the same thing last night, ran my tank almost dry they filled up with 93 at a reputable BP station. I wonder if the surges in gas prices have inclined these ghetto shops to dilute their 93 fuel. There were two stations in my area that were fined for this only a few weeks ago, they were pumping regular through all three grade pumps.

Dunno, 100 OCTANE is great, wont give you any more power, but will resist detonation more. I did put Octance Booster in, it isnt really supposed to move the PING rating nay higher then 1 real point but I did it anyway, plus it contains MMT, which I dont think HONDA likes in our motors

100 octance can potentially give you more power, if you tune for it. resist detonation = ability to increase timing.

in my 18t jetta, i was able to grab 10 degrees of timing advance up top when on 100 octane car boogied with that but this was back when 100 octane was 4.50 a gallon. now its around 6 or 7

Does anyone know about Enmark gas stations? I just moved to Savannah where there is an Enmark gas station that on "Golden TUesdays" gives 7 cents off premium gas/gallon. Good idea?

Lets say you drive 15,000 miles a year and assume that you get 20 mpg on average...

That means you go through 750 gallons of gas a year; at a savings of $0.07 a gallon, you would save $52.50 in a year. Also, this special is only on Tuesdays, so the amount you save would be even less.

Is the savings (if any at all) worth it to get gas from a no-name gas station?
