I've been doing alot of research on lithium batteries. Found some good info on Shorai,Ballistic (battery I plan on using) and Murai on the Lotus, R1/R6, and Miata forums. Also a little on the Porsche forums as some of those come with factory lithium batteries. I've found that a lot of the cases of lithiums dying is do to high parasitic draw and loads. I did a draw test on my car and after all the ecu's and electronics go to sleep (power down) my car fluctuates from .008 and .007 milliamps which is great for a car. You don't want more than 20-50 milliamps. A draw like that shouldn't kill the deka or lithium battery on a daily driver. For wires, any 0guage from a car stereo shop will work fine. I ordered mine from Knukoncepts on amazon for like 1.80 a foot. If relocating to the trunk, I'd use 0 or 0/1 like Timg said.

Great information. I've been researching Lithium Ion batteries as well and may make the jump in a year or two. I moved to 0 gauge wiring for my battery relocation in the trunk, also buying from Knuconcepts, and found the car started faster than my 4 gauge wired battery under the hood!

I cosign everything stated in this thread.

I have an Odyssey style battery mounted in the trunk and it will not survive more than a few days without a charger or a start. I barely drive my car so I keep it on a trickle charger. Cold starts aren't a problem but warm starts are hit and miss sometimes. If I had to do it all over again, I would do a stock style replacement battery in the spare tool well with 0/1 gauge wiring.

I had good use of a 34/78 yellow top. Survived 6 years in Florida heat and barely being driven. Last 6 months it would finally die if left for over a week or so.

I bought my s2k used and it had an optima. It left me stranded twice before just dying. I cut the car off at home and it wouldn't start again. No lights, no crank, nothing.

Do you have to "warm up" the battery to start your car when it's cold?
On my bike I run the LFX18A1-BS12 and when it gets cold(under 30*F) I have to turn on my high beam for a min. to warm up the battery. Then my bike starts right up even when the temps are in the teen's. Lots of power out of such a small sized battery(2.3 lbs, 270 CCA), best battery I've ever had in my bike.

Been using Shorai battery for a year with about 16-17k miles on it already in various conditions ranging from 25ºF to 115ºF and in heavy downpour. Car not run for 2-3 weeks and car still starts up fine. Have used this battery to crank over SC kit with 1000cc injectors and 8lb flywheel no issues as well.
