I dont know about a disservice, I seemed to do pretty well with the gears, although it proved to be much more difficult to launch properly. It takes more skill and traction to be able to take advantage of the 4.77's.

Not sure what to tell you there accept either pull away easy or drop it at 6-7 rpm and spin them properly, but I do know you would shave about .5 sec off your 1/4 time easy if you drop it and shift right, and gain about 3-5 mph if you lost those crumby 4.77 and put your stock 4.10 back in. At your power level you are doing your car a real disservice. You have enough power to pull through in 4th gear and gain some time by not having to shift into 5th.
