Best EMS for nitrous?
So I have decided what the goal of building my s2k is. In short it is to to be able race and beat my dad and his Charger SRT-8 from a dig or roll-on. Pretty simple.
Now the long version is that my dad and I have always had a friendly rivalry in just about everything we do, bikes guns, cars, ect. and I always 1-upping him (or at least trying). Mainly because he is so big-headed and thinks his way of thought is the ONLY way... Anyways, I already clued him in on the fact that I will be building my s2k to beat his SRT-8 (which currently only has an intake). Now I know that the SRT-8 is no slouch and have ready about it quite a bit, mainly to make sure I wasn't saying something completely retarded. From what I have gathered the SRT-8 goes about mid 13s@105ish stock and that there are a few guys on here with direct port and at least one guy with a single fogger that are in the 12s range. So that and the fact that I have used nitrous before (110 shot on a 85 IROC-Z, loved it) I have decided to go that route at least until I get around to researching more about turbos and super chargers and piece a kit together. So from what I have planned so far it will be a direct port system with a stand alone, pretty general for now as I haven't worked on details. Now the part I am concerned with is if he decides he is going to spray too, which from the Charger forums time slips brings him into the 11s range. So what are your guy's suggestions?
And now that story time is over I have some specific questions.
For the people with direct port, what shots are you running?
Which standalone best accommodates nitrous? I plan to have a wideband attached for datalogging and want one that I can swap maps on the fly.
Any of you direct port guys have completely hidden systems? Mainly is there enough room under the intake to mount the nozzles?
How much room is there behind the carpet in the trunk? Enough room to stash 2 5lb bottles?
How long does C16 sit for? If I separate fuel cell for it how long could it sit without being used before I should swap it out if I don't use it?
If I did go the spare tank route how big should it be? 1 gallon sound about right to be able to get a good number of runs in before a refill?
Anyone on here do Meth injection with nitrous?
If you have done Meth with nitrous were you able to shoot the meth and nitrous with the nozzles and then compensate for the fuel with the standalone?
I think that is it for now. As you can probably guess I am planning on doing a decent sized shot of nitrous. I will of course be starting out small and working my way up. Any other input would be good too

All in all, IMHO, its not gonna be worth it for nitrous. It gets expensive even at 3.50 a pound. His car is also better suited for drag racing. If anything, I would go turbo especially since you're guessing he'll be in the 11s.
If you want easy and not gonna go higher than a 125 shot, I'd do dry. Everyone here will disagree with me on that though because of the myths. A direct port wet setup would be ideal if you're doing a bigger shot for ease of tuning, but theres more parts so they're a little more expensive.
I would suggest the AEM 1052 unit. I was surprised at all the control I had for nitrous with it and you can wire it into the EMS so you can arm it with a switch and it'll switch to the nitrous map when you start spraying. I wouldn't dick around with meth. Nitrous in itself is similar to meth in terms of preventing detonation since it doesn't ignite and acts as a buffer. You don't get the extra octane though. I would throw in race gas when you want to spray a large shot and at other times, just run 91.
FWIW heres my hidden dry setup that I current have on. The stock clutch held up 2 years of spraying and then decided to start crapping out when I finally was able to drive 300 miles to a 1/4 track. My best was a 13.3@106 with a 8.8 1/8th mile. My average 1/8th mile time at my local track is an 8.5 at 84mph so it would have been close to a 12(benchracing) with that little power. That was on the stock ECU with no tune. I was contemplating to try a 100 shot or more before I throw on the IP stage 2 kit that I was gonna buy soon.

Can't say I honestly agree that it wouldn't be worth it, but they are more for personal reasons really. Mainly, I don't race all that much. In the 9 years I have had my Camaro I have only gone through 1 15lb bottle. But then again everyone around here knew I had it. For some reason no one around here wants to run a car with nitrous unless they have a 11s car or faster.
Also the guessing of him being in the 11s is only a WAG. Not even sure he is going to get a kit at this point. Being young and single with no kids has it's advantages when racing an older guy with bills and kids to feed
Cost really isn't a huge concern to me. I just know more about running nitrous than I do a turbo. Also I do think I will eventually go turbo, if I do I like having the option of either keeping the nitrous for the S or simply taking it off and swapping it onto another car I have.
Running dry is sorta what I had in mind... Wet kit shooting meth and nitrous and using the standalone to do the fuel with larger injectors and fuel pump. I would just have to read a lot more about meth injection. From what I have read I wouldn't mind the combined detonation prevention properties of running both, changing the amount of water/meth with the fuel pills of course. Just thought I would throw that out there to see what people thought of it or if anyone has tried it.
I was also leaning more toward the AEM EMS, I just didn't know what the Kpro was capable of or if there would be advantages going with one over the other.
Thanks for your input.

ok, first off, you bought the wrong car for a drag wars grudge match. he has a charger srt8, so ask him to run you in a canyon run. or better yet, run the dragon, he will not keep up, and you make half his hp
ask him to drop the top, ohhhhh wait, he cant, 4 door family car lol. listen, big 6.1L v8 with spray, even weighting 2 tons, is gonna hit 11's easy. s2k with 200 shot would prolly hit 11's, but noone sprays that big a shot, as far as i know yet, on a s2k. turbo making 400-450 will run a nice 11 slip, but at the risk of tranny and diff failure. SO, ask yourself, is challenging his car in a drag race gonna measure your penis, or in a canyon run.......
i like spray, but you go broke having fun with it, spend now or spend later, but you still spend!

If you go to the track often, a 10 lb bottle isn't gonna last too long. On my 70 flywheel shot setup, I would maybe get 18-20 1/8th mile runs in. With a bigger setup, you're not gonna get as many runs in. I was filling the bottle every 2 weeks and I got nitrous cheap at 3.50 a pound. So 35 dollars for 2 weeks just for nitrous in a 10 pound bottle. I actually went out and bought a 20 pound bottle so thats 70 dollars to fill up. It adds up using it every week in the summer.
To answer your question to SC-SUZUKA, the jetting is done at each nozzle.

Do you pill your nozzles individually or at the distribution block? And where do you get your fuel from?
Awesome set-up btw

And if no one has done it all the more reason to do it

D1sclaimer: Not really a lack of funds for a turbo, more of a lack of knowledge on turbos. Might do one later though.
