Default Better for boost: AP1 or AP2?

Hey guys, this is a somewhat of a noob question but I have never owned an S2000, I've only ridden in them. I know for sure I want to go with FI, and my current plan is doing a GTX3076 turbo build good for ~450hp, or at least that's the eventual goal .

My question is, which engine is better for a turbo build with a power goal that high? Assuming either car would be around the same mileage, what are the advantages and disadvantages of building an AP1 vs an AP2? Do the extra 1k revs or the extra .2 litres make the bigger difference in the long run? Or will it even matter with a new EMS and tune?

Should post in the FI section

I'm SC on a Ap2, I love my car. I could see a advantage in the extra 1000 rpm.
You should go to some local S2000 meet and just learn the differences between
Years and tuning shops. Your tuning shop can up up the AP2 redline to 8500

deff AP1 just coz of the gearing. 3rd, 4th and you are already at 120+mph

Thanks for the input. Looks like it won't matter now, cause I just bought an AP2! lol
I found an amazing deal and simply couldn't pass it up, so I jumped on it. I won't be picking up the car for a couple months, but I'm stoked nonetheless!

Picturepro, I'll definitely look into upping the rev limit when I get it tuned. Sounds good, thank you sir.

You can always do a gear swap or get an AP1 tranny and swap it in.. For longer gears..

The extra RPM plays a big roll in that too..

A lot of guys prefer the F22C1 just because of the displacement and the little bit of extra torque it can make.. The ap2 gears are pretty short though, but that's changeable..

Both are great ap2 trans is stronger and if u want longer gears do a taller gear in the rear end but in ap1 all the way but if u have emshions in your town u need ap2 for flash pro or u can do k pro swap on ap1

I like the ap1 for its gearing. With my dad's ap2 as soon as power comes on you have to shift and it tops out 4th way quick. The extra rpm helps a lot imo. If you want to change out gearing though its not a big deal.

AP2 drivetrain parts are stronger, and the engines dont really make a difference, so an AP2 would probably be your best bet. (Glad you picked one up!)

The only thing I would look for if I were to buy another s2k would be to make sure I got an 06+ because the tuning solutions are just SOO much easier. 00-05 tuning solutions really suck, especially if you have emissions in your state.
