Default Block guard on FI s2k?

I was looking around, and saw someone in the development of a block guard for the F20C... I was thinking this might add a bit more "safety" to those running head gaskets in compensation for built motors... anyone else? Just curious to see what other people thought about the subject...

Quick question. What is a block guard? Got a pick of one maybe on another car? Just never heard of it sorry

it's basically a CNCed piece that fills in part of the deck making the motor a semi-closed deck rather than the open deck that it is factory...
There is a company in GA that's known for their pieces, and I'm contemplating sending them my spare motor to do the initial piece... is there anyone out there who would actually buy one?

I wouldn't use one, not for the cost difference for sleeving a block. You can get a block sleeved for a a little over 1K, and have more reliability, as well as using a turbo specific low CR pistons and a stock gasket.

well, I'm talking a cost of under 100 bucks and I'm taking the head off anyways... I'd love to build a motor, and I have a blown one at home but the motor in the car is still a Spoon blueprinted and balanced engine, and I can't bring myself to pull it apart...

I would not advise to get a block guard for a daily driven car. The only time you need one will be for strip only. You will definitely run into overheating problems IMO.

overheating wouldn't be that big of an issue with my upgraded cooling system, so long as the channels through the block guard are adequate...

The blockguard has like pin sized holes in it so there will still be overheating issues to deal with.

these are quite a bit bigger than a pin, and I don't think it's going to be that great an issue... especially with the fact that 90% of the owners on here who mod their car buy cooling mods first...
