Thumbs up Boost Creep?

I just got my turbo setup tuned today for the first time and all went well accept for some major boost creep. I don't have any of the print outs yet from the tuner, he is going to email them to me later. I am running a gt3071r with lovefab sidewinder manifold, 44mm TiAL waste gate with dump to the atmosphere, and 7psi waste gate spring. The boost goes right up to about 7-7.5 psi around 3600-3800rpm and then has a consistant creep to 9-9.7 psi around 9000rpm Does any one have any idea why this would be happening. I have never heard of boost creep with a dump to atmosphere setup. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Yeah, great numbers but how safe is 9.7psi on stock internals. I would rather run just 7 and get a few years out of the engine!

man your number makes me drool, great number. Do you have 3 inch exhaust. Several people mention 10 was doable but you are at the limit of stock internal withouth head gasket.

I have also seen that the max boost people tend to run without a thicker headgasket or some other modifications is 10 psi. I think your creep up to 9.7 is a bit much especially if you have long term reliability in mind. If I were you I'd have something done to control boost better or just get a thicker headgasket. That way if you want to raise boost later for more power, you can do so without worrying too much

I believe the general concensus for the most part is that you can safely get up to ~400 whp without worrying about building up your motor. Of course it all depends on your tune also...but that number is assuming a good tune.

I wish that I could but there is no way to control the boost if you are getting "creep". Not that I know of anyway. If I did get a head gasket and boost control the waste gate to say 10psi would it then creep to 12-14psi? I just don't understand why I have creep and there are how many other people using the same manifold with no problems? Could it be the waste gate itself is defective and not working right? Is it the angle of my dangle on the dump tube? I only have experience with DSM turbo setups with internal waste gates.

What I meant was that maybe you should try getting a boost controller rather than relying on the wastegate spring. I think you might have some better luck with an actual boost controller. That way you can also turn the boost up and down accordingly and adjust your power levels easily when you go in for tuning.
