you sure the wastegate is hooked up correctly? it sounds like it is not even opening at all if you are getting 10 psi by 5k.

is your car tuned? if not stop beating on it and NO MORE BOOSTING asap!!!

i tuned my car n/a but never boosted and ive lowered the timing considerately, im not beating on it by any means. i have to get to work until i get dynoed so ive been tuning a little myself. i assume i have it hooked up correct. i followed the instructions like it said except for the placement of the boost nipple, it shows to hook it up to the bottom banjo fitting of the WG and the turbo compressor nipple fitting, my compressor had no fitting on it so i put a fitting on my intercooler piping just like my civic was.

maybe the spring isnt rated for 3 lbs and they sent you the wrong one? but sounds more like your line isnt hooked up right

yea it does sound like the wastegate isnt opening for some. i have all the springs. and i know its the right one and ive looked at the diagram ten times and im doing as the instructions say, hooking up to the bottom barb and leave the top port of the WG vented to the atmosphere

Turbosmart Makes a 45mm Waste gate but never offered a 3psi spring for it. Pfabs web site says that there kits come with the Tial MVS or there discontinued 44mm gate????? Did you peice together your kit?

i have the pfab topmount tubular manifold and a t-3 60 trim and i cant seems to keep it under 10.5psi with a 3 psi spring in and this isnt even goin WOT. is this a common problem with their manifolds or any other top mount manifolds?
I skipped past everything, so excuse me if this has been explained already.

Boost creep happens for a few different reasons.

1. To small a spring (which a 3psi spring would fit). Why even boost your car if your only running 3psi?

2. Your setup (manifold/gate/turbo/exhaust) aren't allowing the gate to expell the un-needed gases.

Typically you see creep at lower spring rates coupled with larger turbo's. Either increase your spring pressure(which may or may not solve the issue), get a larger wastegate, or upgrade your exhaust to a 3" mandrel bent or open downpipe.

3. In some conditions it can boil down to poor manifold & w/g design, b/c it's easier for the gases to travel out the exhaust instead of going through the gate as needed.

I'm guessing 2.5" downpipe?

Problem.

Wastegate perpendicular from turbo outlet.

Problem.

38mm Gate?

If so, problem.

To small a spring pressure.

Problem.
