Is that the VSD Concept? I've been meaning to get one of those. How do you like it.
It can display any sensors you have in the defi link control unit except for boost. The tach bar or gauge bar is hard to read, but it was good enough when you have time to pay attention to details. It also has a 2 stage led light and beeps for tach functions but its hard to hear in the S2k. It will display your RPMs numerically while stopped for 10seconds which you can easily pull the speed input signal to do this. Very clear at night without the tint but no so clear in sunny days. The tint helps, but I did not put it on.

I have an EGT gauge. Is that the same thing as reading the air/fuel ratio? except that it is analog and not the flickering lights that goes back and forth?

EGT is Exhaust Gas Temp...you can use it to read A/F ratios, but only if you KNOW that the timing on the car is perfect. EGT gauges are not the best for tuning...example...a high EGT reading can because by either a lean A/F mixture, or an advanced timing condition. With out knowing which is the case...you can add more fuel, which would lower the temps...but you would still be running to much timing, possibley leading to detination.

Any gauge you use is fine, it just depends on the resolution of your readings. For example, if you are SC then you most likely won't go over 15psi of boost so a boost gauge with a max of 15psi will enable the needle to sweep the gauge further to see your boost than a gauge that has 30psi assuming the same total sweep angle on the boost area.

A peak or memory gauge may be a plus if you are only interested to see what your peak boost is at any given time before reset. This helps as you need to pay attention to the road when you are driving especially at peak boost.

Oh btw, from my experience, the vacum part of the boost gauge has been more useful to me while daily driving, its serves more of a MPG gauge. The more vacuum you have while cruising, the better MPG you tend to get. It serves as a load indicator, you'll see it go up when you hit inclines.
