Boost-a-Spark users
I just finished installing the Kenne Bell Boost-Spark in series with the stock wiring. The BAS unit has nice hefty 12 AWG power wires. The stock harness is somewhere around 18 AWG and very weak in comparison.
Any issues installing the BAS as-is with the stock wiring? OR it is worthwhile to upgrade to 12 AWG? If upgrading to 12 AWG, we still hit a bottle neck from the harness connector to each individual coil.
Thoughts?

I cut the BLK/YEL wires right before the first BLK/YEL split to the first coil. Combined them into one wire and soldered to the IN RED wire. The OUT RED wire is then soldered to the individual BLK/YEL wires to the coil.
Thought about setting up a relay and run IN RED + straight to the battery 12AWG like the fuel pump relay mod.

The benefit of this MOD? Was getting misfire and break ups around 6500 to 8000rpm at BKR8EIX 0.018 gap.
With the KBAS, I run stock BKR8EIX gap with no hiccups.

Ultimately I'd like to run the BAS directly off the battery and tie all 4 coil outputs to the BAS output. Before I do anything, I'd like to measure the current to see if this is indeed necessary. The BAS has a 30A fuse and stock fusebox is 15A. Do you know how much current we really pull?
Sorry but I don't have a answer for you but trying to achieve the same thing. I have spark blow out at higher rpm's and trying to keep the gaps as far open as possible. I have gone for the AEM CDI and AEM Pencil Coils. Never heard of a Boost-a-spark so went the AEM route.
I just got a BAS. I am having blowout even with a .018 gap on my bkr8eix plugs. Does anyone have any install pics? I'd like to check out some mounting locations. Also, does anyone have any pics of the black/yellow wire that needs to be cut?
