Boosting 12PSI Supercharger on Stock Internals
Hi guys,
I remember reading back a few years ago that when pushing 12PSi on a Supercharged with an AEM engine management that a headgasket is required. I wanted to know if this is still the case.
I most definitely want to be on the safe side since I am looking to buy the exact same setup from a forum member (dans2k).

a few years back is a long time ago in the tuning world. People are pushing the envelope every day.
The real question is do you trust your tuner enough?
Needless to say if the tuner is good enough he could run upwards of 20psi on the stock headgasket. 12 psi is nothing and do0able. you'd need a 3 bar map sensor however. Using a headgasket @ 12psi is stepping backwards. you'd be better off sticking with 10psi and the oem HG.

Yep, I think it's pretty undeniable that with a good tune 12psi is doable on the stock HG. In fact, JohnZ pushed 14psi with his Vortech setup for a long time before deciding to drop compression with a 2mm HG and push 17psi.
I wouldn't really hesitate as long as you feel comfortable driving the car at those power levels.

get it tuned at Autowave. You could run the 12psi pulley with a stock motor safely. you won't run into any problems, and since you have AEM EMS it will be even better.
i trust Mike Very well with my car...infact he is the only person in the world that i will allow to drive my car... i wont even let my own mother touch my car. They also fixed the messed up tune that church gave me a few years ago.

Dead Zero, whom are you talking about in referance to Mike? I also know a Mike at King.
Aren't there a couple cars on here running 600whp+ on the stock head gasket. 12 psi shouldnt be anything to be concerned about. In fact it seems the OEM head gasket is more reliable than the after market alternatives.
