Broken motor mounts
Well I have been bitching about how horrible my competition clutch stage4 is for a long time... Two weeks ago I changed my turbo out for a ball bearing unit and ever since then my turbo has been rubbing and buzzing against the damn frame rail.
When changing the turbo I did notice that the non ball bearing unit was also rubbing but not very much..
I had a feeling after talking to Scott (DSDDCD) that I may have a broken motor mount on the drivers side. I picked up a new mount after work and set out to complete the swap. Got it out and what do you know... It came out in two pieces spilling this great orange liquid everywhere!
After changing the mount the car is much easier to modulate the clutch, but I am still having the problem of the turbo hitting the frame rail sometimes... (Car feel is much improved however).. After I got back home I inspected the other mount and notice some orange dried stuff on the top of that mount also so I'm almost certain that the other one is also broken and is causing the problems of the turbo hitting still...
So tomorrow I get to change the other mount (If the dealer has another one in stock).
Do people have a problem with breaking both mounts like I did?

I've only heard of people breaking the mounts from launching the car. Do you launch it much?
Can you just look at the mounts typically and tell they are bad or whats the best way to tell without having to remove them to inspect?

Spoolin, I NEVER launch my car..
It may have been brought on by my CC stage4 clutch. I also didnt have a turbo blanket on my turbo (which sits right above the mount) but I just put one on..
I couldn't tell if the mount was broken by looking at it in the car. However after removing the passenger side I saw the color of the fluid in the stock mount and after looking at the drivers side I see the fluid dried on the mount in the same place the other side had broken.

Good lord! What holds the engine in place when they break like that? Just gravity and the weight of the engine? With it like that, I would think the engine would be bouncing all over the place.
How many miles on those mounts?
