Default Building a Block and Head package

My goal for this build. 500-600hp using E85. Ptuning kit.

Golden Eagle sleeved block (o-ringed, AP2 crank polished and balanced)
CP pistons (off the shelf ap2 9.6:1) I want right at 10:1 though, sooo, maybe a custom order.
Pauter or Carrillo Rods (AP2)

I know you don't need to lower CR for E85, but I want to so I can also run pump and not have a lot of problems to worry about.

Does anyone see a problem with that set up? I recently got info that says that all manufacters are making their pistions .040 shallower. Is that really a big problem, can it cause one? I've seen people using the off the shelf stuff and making great power...

I assume that they make them shallower to make up for getting the deck straighten and maybe the bottom of the head as well. It gives them some slop room.

For the head, I want to use a Ferrea stuff, so I know no one will bad mouth that. Stock Ap2 cams, or something else?

MORE QUESTIONS TO COME... after I sleep and work for the gubment.

Stock AP1 cams and you can run the E85 OKC is getting more stations that carry it. The pistons I would have the custom made pistons if you want 10.1 thats what I have in my motor.

Id run 10:1 or 10.5:1 like passman if your soley gunna run e85. Some people have had issues in the past with 10:1+ sittin above te deck but wiesco which is what I'm running seems to not have that problem. Also for warning with ferrea stuff I just waited 2 months to get head parts which should have taken 2 weeks they lied to me about parts bein shipped and quite frankly will never get my business again. So just a heads up it may take a very long time to get parts considering its race season and there out of stock of a lot o stuff. They make great products but there customer service and business ethics are horrible. Jut a fyi

CP, JE, & Wiseco all will make them custom for a high hp build.

For rods I have BC 625+ rods. If money is not a issue get Carrillo H Beam with upgraded wrist pins. For 500-600 the standard BC sportsman rods are enough through.

Valve train is a no brainer for me Ferrea all the way. We are still using the BC stage 2 cams on the new motor and so far the 2.2 is making power to 10k.

Let us know if you need any help with the parts to build the engine that is what we specialize in.
Couldn't have said it better.

Thanks for the responses guys.

If I was to order custom CP pistons could I tell them about the "issue" with them sitting .040 shallow and have them correct that?

Has off the shelf pistons been an issue for anyone else?

I am debating on the AP1 cams or some BC ones, I want to take this F22 to 9.5k on a regular basis. I track the car and need a longer power band. I thought about 3.90 gears, but I don't feel like doing that right now. I want to see how the 4.10s are.

I really like the sound of the 10:1 area because of ease of tuning. (not many good ones around here) Also, If I want to go to pump gas, I have the option and don't have to sacrifce too much in power. If I could be convinced that 11:1 would work for my high boost track adventures, then I'd consider it.

I really don't want to buy all these parts and then them not fit together perfectly. I need something to "follow" and do it right the first time. I can't afford mistakes.

Does anyone have a piston build sheet for some 10:1 CP pistons?

Any more advice guys? Thanks!
