Default Building Custom Turbo. Suggestions?

So for a major project I plan on building a custom turbo system for my S. Its a 2001 with a little over 80k miles on it. If this is a bad idea then please let me know! My plan is to make a kit that is comparable or better (boost and response wise) to a Greddy kit. I personally have small welding skills and know a couple people who can weld and am hooked up with an exhaust shop that can bend the piping and weld for me if need be. I plan to build everything excpet the turbo itself and the fuel injectors and intercooler. My original thought was to get a turbo and manifold off of a GTI or Audi TT and use the flanges and everything to make my own manifold. I have a header that I can use to build from and mount on the engine. What are some thoughts on this project? What is EVERYTHING that I need. What are the most recomended injectors, turbo, manifold, intercooler, boost control, blow off valve, etc. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps me out.

And yes guys I know I am asking about BOV and stuff like that because I can't fab that stuff and I don't know the best quality stuff... What I am building is the pipe system and manifold. I do have enough mechanical skills to build this and the people I Know will weld and bend for me if it needs to be done for all but free so I WON'T be spending money on that. And for the guys who want to be smart asses(not everyone take this the wrong way please...), I don't know what goes into building a turbo system which is why I'm researching it and building one for a project, which is why I'm on here asking about it. Please no dick answers, this is a serious thing and I rely on this project to pass the grade.

Honestly.. IF you want a decent kit that is Greddy power levels, I would get on ebay and buy a Godspeed turbo kit. They run about 2k on ebay. Godspeed turbo kit You will need to add some sort of engine management, injectors and 255 fuel pump. The good thing about this kit is, if you want more power just swap out to a bigger turbo. In my experience with the Greddy, you get what you get so be happy. The only real selling point that Greddy has is it's CARB cert. You can also look at an Ultimate racing setup or Inline Pro setup. PFAB is really nice as well for 3600 but again you will need engine management and fuel system upgrades with IP and PFAB

Well the thing is that I'm building this and researching how everything works for a project. I have to squeeze 20 pages of research and build info. Plus I think it would be cool to have a custom built system.

And not many hours. Friends who are really experienced will be helping me out on most of the welding really.

Do a search for "turbo build" and you will find a bunch of threads where people have done their own thing. There are atleast a couple with really nice custom setups that they did themselves

i dont quite get what you are talking about using a 1.8t manifold and what not but ebay sells a cheap exhaust flange and the guy probably sells a t-28 or a t3 flange you need.

Search, search search!
You reference "research" a few times in your post and it would have been better if you had actually done some before making this thing of a thread.

Try reading through this forum for 9 or 10 or should I just bump that to 100 hours any maybe you'll have some sort of clue of what need and what your up against. theres more than a handful of build threads in the first five to ten pages..

If your looking for injectors search "injector" and if you want info on a manifold then search "manifold"...
