flashing cel means shut the car off immediately and tow, dont drive it with a flashing cel. could be something as simple as a failing coilpack or sparkplugs but flashing cel means something is seriously wrong. hope its a simple fix

Fuel, apparently. Not sure how I haven't seen this anywhere, but the car ran out of fuel with 2 bars left on the fuel gauge. Is this a thing? From what I can research he must have screwed something up installing the new fuel pump. It's a Walboro 255. I talked to SoS and it sounds like it's common for the floating sensor on the fuel pump assembly to get damaged during the pump replacement. They really know their stuff.

Still not sure on what the plastic / burning smell is.

Does this mean the car and motor are doing fine? If so this a great outcome from where I thought this was going!

Some of these aftermarket pumps are longer then the factory and hang down lower in the tank sucking up more fuel before the float accurately reflects this. What I did was bend the float arm to registered the gauge where I wanted it before I ran out of fuel. Or just leave it and realize you need to fill up at 2 bars left or before.

I've heard that about some aftermarket pumps. Talked with SoS about it and they said the arm was likely damaged in the install. After taking it back to the shop, he said that the float arm was stuck on a filter part of the assembly. Whether the install was done wrong or the arm was bent, i'll never know. It's a Walbro 255, which is standard for the CTSC I think. I figure that Comptech wouldn't have tolerated such poor design and that if it were a common issue that I would have read something by now. Given how much else they screwed up and that the system is working fine now (was running fine with 1 bar and the fuel light on), I'm sure they just messed something up.

FYI, back in 2011-ish as I was working through the SC install... Walbro pumps would come with their own fuel sock-filter, it was the norm to discard and reuse OEM fuel sock this preventing binding issues mentioned above.

Yes i've had socks that would get hung up on the float arm. I've trimmed them back where there was a sizable amount of extra flashing and or just replaced with oem. Also have to make sure the pump is orientated right inside the housing or that can throw off fitment between the sock and float arm as well. Some of the longer pumps you can be off/not clocked the same as oem because the bottom retainer isn't used to secure to housing, its left to float off the fuel hose only.
