Default Buy a used S/C?

Hey Guys...So I got the bug and am thinking about putting a supercharger on my AP1.
Before I do that I would appreciate some opinions from those 'in the know'
Would you consider a used S/C on Craigslist ?
Is there any way to tell if the S/C is already beat to death?
All things being equal, Comptech or Vortech? Is one better than the other??
Thanks guys...

I'd be leary. You should see it in person to verify it has all the parts and it doesn't look beaten up.

I agree, the SC is a great option, you will love the car more. I would feel more comfortable purchasing items off this forum from people who post and take care of there cars. I would ask how many miles are on it, make sure it has all the parts. Worst case you may just need it rebuilt but I don't think that would break the bank.

engrish?

People can be scammed on here, eBay, H-T, craigslist...any online site.

If you search through local Craigslist ads then you could at least meet the person before purchasing.

More often than not, though, there is always a good bargain in the classifieds here for a s/c kit.

What's your budget and what do you want to achieve with the s/c kit?

Thanks to everyone for the input..My budget is flexible, but Im thinking around
$2 - 3K for the S/C. Then I have to find out how much for the install.

If you absolutely cannot install it yourself then search around here for people that have and may be in your area.

But if you are a little mechanically inclined, I would suggest doing it yourself. You learn a lot about your car and gain experience by doing so.

You also know it was done right...assuming you did it right.

I also agree^^^^
A comptech SHOULD be very easy to install... I would say if you are capable of doing jobs like plugs and oil change you should be able to do this job yourself.. ( considering you take your time and do things properly) I think there should be a DIY supercharger kit thread on here some where...
