Default buying an s with the view of going turbo

Hi,

Ive owned an s in the past and the only reason i sold it was cos i missed turbo, now I miss the s! there seems to be allot more available options to go turbo now than when i owned one before so i figured best of both worlds!! I will more than likely be buying the mace kit, just a couple of questions:

anything specific to look for when buying an s other than the normal things knowing that i will be going turbo almost straight away?

is there any benefit of ap1 or ap2 for turbo?

also i have been reading allot about compression and i read this:

"The dynamic compression with vtec cams open is in the 7 to 1 range. WHY do you think people are getting 5-6-700 whp out of unopened F20/F22? Because of that fact."

is this true that the compression drops on v tec? is there any real requirement to do anything to the stock block if going for 500whp tops?

Cheers

JM

the cheapest good way of tuning is flashpro, so if you can manage an 06+, do that, otherwise, just get the cheapest, good condition car you can

cheers for the advice, my budget is £10k so wouldnt be able to afford an 06, seems to be either lowe mileage ap1s or about 2002-03 ap2s.

with that in mind is it actually gonna make a difference wether i go ap2 or ap1? im sure i read somewhere that the ap1 is a stronger block? maybe myth though.

Cheers

ap2 will have a little more tq, and they have better valves/retainers, provided that it hasn't been overrevved

if you find a good low mileage ap1, you may want to have the valves/retainers changed to the ap2 ones anyway, just for peace and mind and because they are stronger, yet not outrageously priced

late model 02+ should have the updated oil jet bolts, esp. being that you are in europe

He is in the UK they didn't get the F22 till 06. I might be wrong too, they might of never have gotten them.

we def do have f22, i thought it was 2002 onwards but might be 2004 not sure.

so other than the normal reasons why f22 is better is there any reason that either f20 or f22 are specifically better for turbo?

The f22 denotes itself to the 2.2 the ap2 had

therefore the the uk only had the f20 2ltr

don't worry people make that mistake all the time ..

What ideas do u have ATM
