Default buying used SC kit (second one lol)

i'm once again buying a used SC kit. but with this one, the seller is not the first owner of the kit. he never installed it and he can't guarantee that the kit is working. i was wondering if there is any way to tell if the compressor unit is good without installing it and trying it out.

i also ahve a few other questions:

what do you think about running a front mount while still on a stock size pulley for the CTSC kit? the kit i'm looking at is set up for a front mount and comes with a (i think) 10psi pulley. i plan to stay on stock boost, because i'm not really thirsty for big numbers, and with the 4.77s i hear higher than stock boost will cause major traction issues. also, do you think that with a header/test pipe/exhaust and the (stock boost) CTSC kit, i will need to tune? i hear that the test pipe especially tends to make the car run dangerously lean. i would also have no way of knowing if i am in fact running lean until i get it on a dyno...what do you recommend i do after installing the kit??

also--what diff mods would you recommend??

last--this is the only pic i have of how the guy had it set up. from what i've seen, i think i'd need a fmic that's made for a turbo (??) and not a front mount aftercooler radiator like the tech2. am i correct in making that assumption? how do i know which front mount will fit this setup if so? are they all the same fitment?

thanks,
Rashad

Hey check out ultimate-racing.com, they make a FMIC kit for the Comptech SC. It runs 950 plus you will need a BOV. It comes HKS and Tial flanged. From what I have read, you will lose about 2psi when using this FMIC kit. I plan on going with this when I buy a non aftercooled Comptech. They also sell Comptech upgrade packages with EMS, injectors and smaller pulleys.

I have actually purchased the UR FMIC. The core on the kit isn't that big, and the piping isn't of a large diameter either. I don't remember the exact specs, but you can get that info from them. After speaking to Ya and John from Inline, I would pass on the their recommendation for getting some sort of engine management system with a tune as well. I didnt' originally plan on running this much boost, but figured with all the supporting mods, I might as well.
I purchased a CTSC kit used. My car is currently in the shop; I will post pictures and dyno results as soon as I get it back. I would call Inline or Ptuning so you at least have a good idea of what you are looking at in black and white. This is the setup that I will be running:
-Non-aftercooled CTSC
-9lb SOS Pulley
-650cc injectors
-AEM EMS 1012
-UR FMIC
-HKS BOV

That is pretty much the same setup I am looking at running on my S. Hopefully I can find a good deal on a comptech unit in the spring. Right now i have found a new one for 4700 from Science of Speed. 7700 for their kit, upgrade package and the FMIC from Ultimate Racing. And with that kind of power being put down you would have to have a new clutch as well. That is another 700 from inlinepro. So ultimately that is 8400 plus install/tuning. Not too bad really but I would like to be closer to 7k

I would look in the classified section. You will find some great deals on supercharger kits and EMS's. I have been piecing my kit together since June and finally put my car in the shop on monday. Hopefully I won't have to many hickups with buying used parts, but thats always a possibility when you buy used.

i'm planning to run a simple setup, because i have 4.77s as well. i plan to run a FMIC w/ i dunno which BOV (only because the kit is already set up for it and i think it would look great behind my ings bumper), 7psi pulley (due to boost decrease from FMIC, i'd like to run stock boost of ~5psi), and stock injectors. i'm planning to tune with a VAFC.

oh yeah also i would run the ACT street clutch and perhaps a Fidanza 8lb flywheel.

comments/suggestions on this setup?

Keep us informed. I have the same identical kit except I haven't got the front mount from UR yet..
