Everything in the engine bay a/c related is gone. What is the proper way to disconnect the a/c lines that run through the firewall to ensure there are no leaks in the heating system? Anyone have a link to a good A/C removal thread?
You shouldn't get any leaks from removing the ac system
Did you purge the system yet? should def do that first
Warm up the plastic piece because its brittle and cracks easily, once that's out there's one 10 mm bolt and then you just pull it out. There's a drain line towards the back of the block on the firewall that you'll want to remove as well. It can easily be seen and pulled out if you look underneath the dash on the passenger side. have some paper towels ready for the liquefied gas in that will drip out of the lines.
Once it's removed, you can fab something up to cover the hole

do you have an idea how much weight this saved and did it clean up the bay a lot? I have been thinking about this also since i use the a/c maybe once or twice a year. but does anyone know if this affects the window defroster? doesn't the ac turn on when you use the defroster?
