Default California Emission states

Here is a list of states that follow or will be following California emissions standards. Since this seems to pop up as a question for EVERY FRIGGIN FI kit in regards to legality.

If you live in these states and you don't want a fine, you better have a CARB kit or know a crooked inspection place.

California
New Jersey
Connecticut
Oregon
Washington
Rhode Island
New York
Maine
Massachusetts
Pennsylvania
New Mexico
Florida
Colorado
Arizona
Utah
Maryland
And I believe Vermont

There are currently a total of 17 states with/pending Cali emissions. That's 40% of the country.

And more on the way

SOS, kraftwerks, and Vortech need to get off their butts and get the certs or there won't be any states left that they can sell their kits.

Oh my, what is the source for this, a lot of states on there are very passive whn it comes to emmisions, I can't see Maryland going from just a obd2 scan to a full inspection

It's been all over the news, just do a google search. Some are more vigorous about it than others, but the law is there if they decide to enforce it.

Here's a little helper for you.

On January 12, New Jersey Governor James McGreevey (D) signed legislation, passed earlier that day by both houses of the state legislature, applying California

idc about the emissions laws in NY as long as cops dont start pulling me over for having a intercooler; etc. if i had to go back to stock once every 2 years to pass emissions (its a bitch) but hey thats worth it to be over 400 whp. ill have a kpro tho so i think ill be fine with OBDII and ill have a stock cat and a cutout so no worries here.

fellow Marylander here, have gotten my inspection done only by OBDII scan, gotten pulled over hoodless with CTSC fully exposed and no issues here.

You could be right, I just know in NJ its a royal pita to get through emissions at most inspection stations. You can get through with a gutted cat and fail for removing the stock air box and just having a cone filter

It's all about what it LOOKS like, and it's hard to hide a supercharger once they pop the hood.
