Cam Timing with Supercharger
This data is only for supercharged S2000s. Naturally aspirated and turbo charged cars are different.
Dynoed some various cam timing changes today and it is a great way to add power.
I am having a problem with boost not holding. It drops off variously between 8000 and 9000 rpm for no apparent reason. (Turns out boost will not hold is a result of the non resistor plugs taking out the AEM EMS above 8000rpm.)
The change of minus two degrees intake and no change in the exhaust resulted in 17 ft lbs and 33 rwhp. Boost (19.3 psi) was dropping off at 8700 rpm. A normal red line would have added more horsepower.
The biggest top end change was seen with minus two degrees intake and plus one degree exhaust. It resulted in an additional 19 ft lbs torque and 25 rwhp. This was at 8200 rpm where the boost dropped off. I have to get that fixed. I should have seen an additional 60 rwhp.
We did some other cam timing combinations and you can see gobs of torque but it kills the top end.
I have a few off set woodruff keys available.

I do have dyno graphs and I will post if I can figure out how.
Moddiction, I think you would see a proportional amount of improvement.

Those are some impressive gains from a simple part.
How aggressive is this in terms of engine reliability? I would be tuned for it on AEM , but lets say I put the stock ECU & injectors back in for inspection, will I need to remove the woodruff key?

The drop offs can happen anywhere above 8000.
There has been some "dip stick pop up" so I am thinking the krankvent may be suspect. I only have the little one since I destroyed the big one. Blew the plug out of the Krankvent and it was just a hollow tube.

That said, we did see the tune lean out when we added exhaust timing. It would be wise to do a quick dyno check unless you are proficient with your wide band.
IMHO, no change in reliability.
I failed oxides of nitrogen last year. I then retarded the intake cam 2 degrees and passed. Cam timing can be your little friend.
