Can't Find 93 Anywhere. What Should I do?
Hey everyone,
I wish I could be posting on this forum under better circumstances. On Friday I bought Secondhandlosers 2.5L stroker S2000 in Washington D.C . The plan was to make the drive home to Edmonton, Alberta with the car over the five days that followed.
The problem I've run into is that I can't find 93 octane at any of the stations around here for the life of me. Stations that carried 93 in Illinois only stock 91 now. I'm still got around 1000 miles to drive to get home, so I don't really know what I should do at this point.
Some of the stations appear to offer 91 with 10% ethanol blended in. From what I've read, the ethanol helps to prevent detonation, and in turn, acts like a higher octane fuel.
What are your recommendations?
Aidan

Octane boosters don't really raise your octane by much. It takes 10 octane points to actually make 1 real point. So if it raises your octane by 7 points it is only raising it by .7 points. Don't mess with octane booster. I know that the majority of BPs carry 93 octane but most 93 octane isn't really usable, they just add ethanol to up the octane.
