Default Can't rev past 4k when not in gear

I have a Vortech SC and an AEM series 1 EMS. I bought the car with everything on it and when I just sitting there I want to blip the throttle, I can't rev past about 4k. Which is also where my vtec engagement was lowered to I'm told. I have no problem passing 4k when I'm driving, but I can never do it when I'm in neutral and sitting still. I can throw in into neutral when I'm cruising and it revs just fine. So its something about me sitting still and yes the car is plenty warm when I try.

Is this something the AEM EMS just does or do I have a problem with my tune?

Im no expert at all on this, but my guess would be its either a safety for the car, or it could be a launch control.

This... why would you be trying to rev higher at idle anyway?

Are you using an off the shelf map, or did you get tuned somewhere? If you got tuned call your tuner and ask if he put launch control on your map.

It was tuned by a shop in Atlanta.

I'm not trying to rev it in some parking lot, but every once in a while someone asks to hear my Ti exhaust or they never saw an S2k and want to hear it when I'm sitting at an idle and I can't show em. Not a big thing, just odd.

And its on and 2000 model so not TC. I don't know what parameters the AEM series 1 allows for safety, that is kind of what I'm asking. Is is something every AEM EMS does is maybe something the installer did to prevent an over rev?

Sounds like your 2 step (launch control) is set to 4K

yeah sounds just like launch control is setup for 4k and probably speed under 5mph or something thats why you can still rev in neutral on the highway

I appreciate the help. I thought launch control was only a feature you turn on off like in a GTR.
